Look what Bramley in Bloom planted in our window? Spring shoots! Bramley in Bloom is a local community group, who exist to plant bulbs, grow things, and generally make the area more beautiful. If you’re an indie, community or voluntary group, or a charity with a creative idea for this window, get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org
The new floating obstacle course drew in hundreds of swimmers last week during half term, not least Rachel Reeves MP and Councillor Ted Hanley, who dropped in for a closer inspection of the pirate ship that had washed up in our nets. They weren’t the first adults to express interest in the pirate ship – our twitter and facebook feeds were full of requests by adults asking to join in and talking ‘pirate’. (Avast ye!)
“This is a great way for young people to enjoy their free time and a fantastic example of people working together to make health-equality a reality’, said Rachel. “The sponsored swimmers and fundraisers who gave their time and commitment to raising the funds for this, should be very proud.” Thanks Rachel – we agree!
And if you’re wondering why Danny, Rachel and Ted are looking up at the ceiling, there’s a photographer from the Yorkshire Evening Post on the balcony calling the shots. Well done Captain Danny & his crew for making it a really memorable half term.
Shiver Me Timbers is available for children’s pool parties – imagine that! Email email@example.com or call 0113 214 6000 to save the date if your kids or grandchildren have a birthday coming up.
A wondrous floating obstacle course washed up in the pool ready for half term week. It has caused lots of interest especially from parents & some adults on twitter and facebook have told us they’re very keen to have an adults-only session running the gauntlet past the shark (watch this space!). The new inflatable was purchased with money raised by the Friends, and many thanks go to the sponsored swimmers & cake-bakers of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal Challenge, and to the musicians & concert-goers of Bath Aid at the Bramley Villagers for their superb contribution to this. We hope you love the results as much as the young swimmers seem to.
Shiver Me Timbers took pride of place in the pool on Monday afternoon, and will be back in the pool from 2.30-3.30pm during the afternoon Fun-Swim sessions on Wednesday and Friday of half-term. The fun-swim sessions are 1-4pm.
The inflatable is also available to anyone booking a pool party, and for details or to save the date email firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ve had lots of interest in pool parties and use of the Recreation Room to have birthday parties and events. We’re also hosting two Baptisms this month in the swimming pool, so get in touch if you’re interested in hiring the pool for your celebration, event or a class you’d like to run here.
This week also sees two special Under 8’s fun-swims, with floats and bathtoys (Tuesday 9.30-12noon and Thursday 9.30-11.30am). Come along for a splash with your brood.
Under 12’s need to be supervised by an adult, and Under 8’s need to be accompanied in the pool by an adult. Teenagers aged 12+ are welcome to come in without an adult, and 12-16 year olds interested in a free gym induction for the Junior Gym, should call 0113 214 6000, drop in and ask for details, or email email@example.com. There are 24 supervised Junior Gym sessions each month – 4-6pm Mon-Fri and 9.30-12.30 Saturday. Per month, it costs £14 to become a member of the Junior Gym, and the gym team are on hand to give advice and tips.
This half term, 18-24 February, Bramley Baths has extended the usual timetable so that children and teenagers can enjoy their free time adventurously, safely and affordably. The half term programme includes extra day-time splash sessions for children and teenagers, with floats and bath-toys filling the pool, and two dedicated Under 8’s sessions for young paddlers with a parent. Teenagers aged 12 or over can come in unsupervised to use the pool, or join the Junior Gym, which takes place 4-6pm Mon-Friday or 9.30-12.30 on Saturdays and works out at £3.50 for 6 gym sessions each week. Call 0113 214 6000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and book a free Junior Gym induction.
Here’s the programme for Mon 18 Feb to Sunday 24 Feb.
Adults can enjoy time-out for a wind-down on their own terms too, because the half term programme is EXTRA, so all other times including general swims, adult-only swims, steam room, fitness classes and gym-time will carry on uninterrupted all week.
Happy half term everyone!
